Help with Legal Aid.
It is no longer possible to receive legal aid for a family court application, because of this many parents are missing out and being denied contact with their child. Many people cannot afford the extortionate fees that Solicitors/Barristers charge in Family Court. I have often asked myself if this is fair, especially in cases such as child contact.
Many people are able to save themselves thousands of pounds if not more in legal fees by representing themselves.
Going to court can be a stressful experience. It can be made easier by using a regulated lawyer such as a solicitor. But not everyone can hire a lawyer. Sometimes, the only option might be to represent yourself in court. If you represent yourself, having someone who can prepare all your case papers and encourage and help you in court can make a big difference.
People who offer this sort to those who need help in family court are known as McKenzie Friends.
